Kent Williams' Rashomon!

I may work up a longer post on this when I get the time, but I wanted to get this up in time for the upcoming theatrical run: here's a sneak preview of the gorgeous new poster for the upcoming theatrical re-release of Akira Kurosawa's classic Rashomon, painted by the amazing Kent Williams (type design and art direction by me, as you probably guessed):

The newly-restored print (I'm told it's a revelation; I haven't see it on the big screen yet, myself) starts at the Film Forum in NYC on May 29, before touring the rest of the country.

Love it! Do you choose the artists yourself?

That poster image is unbelievable, Eric. Thanks for sharing it! Do you know if it'll be available to buy, in print or poster form?

I've got to own this. The marriage of one of my fav artists along with Kurosawa... what more could you ask for! Wow, indeed.

Holy crow! It's so funny that you designed this. I was at Flim Forum not 2 hours ago admiring this and telling my friend why they should too. Let me know how one could acquire.

We'll be selling them at criterion.com sooner or later, but I think they might want to get a little further into the theatrical run before they go on sale... I'll definitely post something when they go on sale.

Connor, I hope you didn't have to work TOO hard to convince your friend... ;)

Tell those fat cats at Criterion to make more posters available for sale.
