Don't forget: MoCCA this weekend!

Just thought I'd bump this back up to the top of the blog, in case anyone stops by over the weekend--come visit me at the MoCCA festival, at the 69th Regiment Armory at Lexington Ave and 25th St, 11 AM to 6 PM this Saturday & Sunday. More details on my stuff here, or if you're curious about what ELSE you can find at MoCCA, there's a couple good posts at The Beat on self-published/minicomics stuff and books from honest-to-god publishers.

Yojimbo print by Paul Pope

Oh my, that's nice! (And gratifyingly similar to a never-realized idea I had for a Yojimbo DVD cover back in the day, sans circle inset.) Since I already ordered mine, I can tell you without fear that the edition of 250 is available here.

(To clarify, this is NOT a Criterion product and I had nothing to do with it.)

MoCCA 2009: Where to find me...

We just got our table assignment for MoCCA... you'll be able to find Connor Willumsen and myself at table 621, which is apparently in the southwest corner of the building, or back and to the left if you come in through the main Lexington ave entrance.

See you there!

MoCCA 2009

As previously hinted, I will be attending this year's MoCCA (Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art) Festival in NYC, splitting a table with talented artist and all-around swell guy Connor Willumsen. If you're going to be anywhere in the vicinity, please stop by and say hi. I'll have copies of EGG #1 for sale, of course, along with a lo-fi edition of "Cold Feet," some newly-produced giclee prints, a few silkscreens, and maybe a few assorted other goodies.

And even if you're not buying what I'm selling (though: you should!), MoCCA is always a great show--I've been going as a spectator for years and it always re-ignites my love for all things comics.

The festival is Saturday and Sunday, June 6-7, and will this year be held at the 69th Regiment Armory at Lexington Ave and 25th St, 11 AM to 6 PM both days. Admission is a mere $10/day or $15 for both days. Well worth your time!

"Cold Feet" page 1

Hey, new comics!

Just finished up a new story with the amazing Evan Bryce! Evan's a fearless artist and I've admired his stuff for a while, so I'm thrilled to get the chance to work with him--check out his blog (or his "President Awesome" webcomic) for plenty more great art!

For a change, I'm NOT going to post the full 8 pages right away--I'll probably have some form of this available for sale at the MoCCA Festival in a couple weeks (along with some other fun stuff--more on that soon!), so I'll wait until the kind folk willing to purchase a copy get theirs before posting it online. But anyway, here's the first page... gorgeous, right? (And, y'know, the story's alright, too, I like to think!)

Kent Williams' Rashomon!

I may work up a longer post on this when I get the time, but I wanted to get this up in time for the upcoming theatrical run: here's a sneak preview of the gorgeous new poster for the upcoming theatrical re-release of Akira Kurosawa's classic Rashomon, painted by the amazing Kent Williams (type design and art direction by me, as you probably guessed):

The newly-restored print (I'm told it's a revelation; I haven't see it on the big screen yet, myself) starts at the Film Forum in NYC on May 29, before touring the rest of the country.
