More tinkering...

Been playing around with the look of the site some more... and I think I've made it worse, actually, but I'm tired now so I'm giving up for tonight.

It occurs to me I'm having trouble with this because I can't really decide on a "brief" for the site design, so I'm just taking shots in the dark hoping to come up with something pretty. Which, if you've been reading this site, you'll know, is not my usual process. (Also I can't seem to make the Blogger do anything I want it to, so I'm stuck with rectangles and boxes until I can remember all the stuff I've forgotten about HTML.) Not sure what to do about that right now, but like I say, I'll play with it some more later in the week. For a "design process blog" this is all becoming very meta...

Hey Eric,

Thanks for answering my question a few posts back. It's comforting to know I'm not alone in getting attached to certain work. I greatly appreciate your comments on my site as well.

The new look tastes like coffee. Now I'm trying to remember the last one... birthday cake icing? Cotton candy?

I don't think anything is more difficult than designing something for yourself. It's practically an existential crisis– never finished, never quite right.

I like that--"tastes like coffee." And you're right, designing something to represent myself is definitely part of the problem--didn't I get into this whole"design" thing so I could just interpret other people's big ideas and not have to come up with my own?

Anyway, last week really got away from me, but I'll try to play with the look some more this week. I really ought to start saving screengrabs of each iteration of the site...
