My portfolio site has been in need of a major overhaul for a while now, but I just haven't had the time to work on it. Which means that the selection of work that had been up there was all at least a few years old. I still haven't been able to give it the face lift it really needs, but in the interest of getting some current work up there, I've done a quick and dirty redesign. Anyway, take a look, tell me what you think in the comments:

(If you've been to the previous site recently, (though I don't know why you would have), you might need to refresh your browser cache a few times to get it to load properly.)
The blog probably needs a new look, too, while I'm at it...

Nicely done, Mr. Skillman. I've admired the work you've been presenting for the past couple of years, and the new Website serves it well. Can't wait to see what the Comics section has in store.
I just watched The Furies over the weekend...a fantastic movie! I admit part of my interest in it was the cover design; the menu looks great too. Was it a combination of watercolors and movie stills?
Thanks, kid and "anonymous"!
kid—Yeah, I really like "The Furies." And yes, watercolor plus film stills, same process as the cover... which you can see if you scroll down to the very next entry on the blog. ;)
fantastic work - i was quite excited to see the art direction section so full of my favorite titles and illustrators (kent williams / monsters-mayhem box esp. )
and the layout is great. my only comment would be 8px verdana might be a bit too small for readable text. but i hit the + and i was fine. your work and blog are a highlight of my week very inspiring.
Nice redesign, clean. I didn't know you did the 'Vengeance is Mine' box; that's one of my favorite designs.
Very nice. I'm intrigued to see a "comics" section, and am definitely looking forward to seeing what shows up there.
dennis—yeah, 8 pt is pretty small... I guess that's what happens when I finally get a project without any editorial department to force me to make my type readable! I'll try and deal with that...
sixfive— thanks, Vengeance is Mine is a favorite of mine as well (obviously, since it made it into the portfolio). I did a blog on that a while back, too, if you're interested: http://ericskillman.blogspot.com/2007/05/vengeance-is-mine.html
ed— glad to know my little "tease" is working, though it might have been a little premature... I'm working on a couple projects, but I might not be allowed to post much online until the fall... Rest assured, when it becomes appropriate, I'm going to be hyping the hell out of my comics work on the blog!
